Wheel of names
Paste your class list and spin. Tick the box to take each winner off the wheel so nobody is picked twice.
A wheel the whole class can watch
Put the wheel on the board and let the room watch it slow down. A visible spin feels fair to pupils in a way that a name appearing on a screen doesn't, and it adds a little drama to cold-calling, choosing a team captain or deciding who goes first.
Make sure everyone gets a turn
Tick Remove winner after each spin and the wheel shrinks as names come off it, so no one is picked twice until you press Put everyone back. If someone is absent, delete their name from the list first.
Names stay on your device
The wheel runs in your browser. The names you type are never uploaded or stored on a server. Use first names or initials only.
Is the result really random?
Yes. The winner is chosen with your browser's random number generator before the wheel starts to turn, and the animation then lands on it.
How many names can I add?
Up to 200, though a wheel is easiest to read with 30 or fewer.
Can I use it for things other than names?
Of course. Type any list, such as topics, questions or table numbers.
